Infringing Product Identification
Infringing product identification finds the products on the market that are likely to practise a patent's claims, so patent holders, brokers and litigators know who to approach.
Who it's for: patent holders and brokers looking for licensing targets, and litigators identifying who to assert against.
A three-step approach
Finding infringing products is complex and time-consuming, and one missed target can mean a missed opportunity. So we follow the same three steps every time.
Map the market verticals
We find the market verticals for the embodiments in the specification, and the major players in each vertical.
Find the active products
For each vertical, we find active products with a launch date after the patent's priority date.
Run the HML analysis
We score each product against the claims of the subject patent as high, medium or low likelihood.
Scoring against the claims
Every product gets a high, medium or low likelihood score. The high scores go on to full claim charts.
High
Most likely to practise the claims. These become the shortlist of targets worth charting.
Medium
Some likelihood against the claims, scored so nothing is overlooked.
Low
Less likely to practise the claims, and recorded so you can see why.
Screening a whole portfolio
The same method scales. Two of our resources let us screen large portfolios and concentrate manual effort on the patent families most likely to be in use.
Product Finder
Our database of recently launched products.
Patent Ranker
Our tool for ranking the patents in a portfolio.
Who uses it
Patent holders and brokers
Looking for licensing targets, and needing to know who is likely to be using the patent.
Litigators
Identifying who to assert against.
Miss one target and you may miss a very large opportunity. We look wide so you don't have to.
What you receive

Frequently asked questions
How do you find products that may infringe a patent?
We map the patent's embodiments to market verticals, list the active players in each, collect products launched after the priority date, and score every product against the claims as high, medium or low likelihood. The high scores go on to full claim charts.
What is HML analysis?
It is our scoring of each product against the claims of the subject patent. Each product is rated high, medium or low likelihood, so you can see where to concentrate.
Can you screen a whole portfolio?
Yes. Our Product Finder database of recently launched products and the Patent Ranker tool let us screen large portfolios and concentrate manual effort on the families most likely to be in use.
What happens after the scoring?
You receive a shortlist of targets worth charting. The high-scoring products move on to full claim charts.
