Six of Hubble Network’s eight patent families are already granted. That is the fact worth pausing on. A company founded in 2021 does not usually have a majority-granted portfolio by now, and it almost never has one in CPC groups where Qualcomm filed 3,249 families over the last five years. Granted claims are enforceable today. In a space this densely worked, holding issued claims rather than pending applications is the difference between a position you own and a position you are still arguing for.

The Round

Hubble Network raised $30M from Y Combinator, Pioneer Fund and Transpose Platform Management. The company develops a satellite-powered Bluetooth network that lets devices connect regardless of cellular reception.

The Portfolio

Eight families filed since 2021, all in the United States. Six are granted. Two are published and pending, with first grants expected around 2028. Filing has been steady rather than bursty: one family in 2021, two in 2022, two in 2023, one in 2024 and two in 2025. That is a consistent cadence for a company of this age, and it suggests filings tied to engineering milestones rather than a single foundational dump. The claims cluster in two places: transmission, under H04B, and radar, lidar and positioning, under G01S. Recent filing titles point the same way, covering tracking pallet goods with passive tags, a combined terrestrial and satellite network, and satellites and satellite stacks for launch. Both the connectivity layer and the locate-and-track layer are represented, which matches a network whose value depends on knowing where a device is as much as reaching it.

The Company They Keep

The same CPC groups drew Qualcomm with 3,249 families, Huawei with 1,548, Samsung with 1,272, Ericsson with 915, Nokia Oy with 791, and Apple with 570 over the last five years. This is a crowded space, and in crowded spaces, claim scope matters far more than claim count. Eight families next to those numbers is not a volume play and was never going to be. What matters is whether the claims sit close to how the technology is actually built. Hubble Network’s patents are already cited by Beijing Lanling Xingtong across five publications, Aerospace twice, and Xiamen Zhiruixing, Digital Analog Integration, and Gilat Satellite Networks once each. Citations from other filers indicate that examiners and drafters in the field are finding this work relevant prior art. For an eight-family portfolio that is early traction.

The People

Seven inventors are named across the portfolio. Ben Juda Wild appears on all eight families. Robert Barton and Art Tkachenko appear on one each. That is heavy concentration in a single inventor, which usually means the technical thesis has been consistent from the first filing forward and that the portfolio reads as one continuous idea rather than several unrelated ones.

What to watch

The two pending families have first grants expected around 2028, so the near-term picture is stable rather than fast-moving. The 2025 filings will publish roughly eighteen months from their filing dates, which is the next real window into where the claims are heading. Hiring gives the clearest forward signal: seventeen open roles, weighted toward six in hardware and four in software and AI, with four other, two in go-to-market and one in ops and finance. Roles including Senior Embedded Engineer for Space Systems and Sr. Hardware Test Engineer line up directly with the filings. Hiring matches the portfolio, so expect more filings in the same claim space.
