Do You Know: E-skin is Redefining Tech-Human Relations

E-Skin is Redefining Tech-Human Relations

Electronic skin (e-skin) is a flexible, stretchable, and often self-healing material embedded with sensors that mimic the properties and functions of human or animal skin. It is designed to sense environmental stimuli such as pressure, temperature, strain, humidity, and even chemicals – just like natural skin does. These materials usually combine nanotechnology, polymers, and flexible circuits.

Technologies used:

  1. Nanomaterials: Carbon nanotubes, graphene, nanowires.
  2. Polymers: PDMS (Polydimethylsiloxane), polyurethane.
  3. Conductive inks: For printing flexible circuits.
  4. Piezoelectric and triboelectric materials: For energy harvesting or pressure sensing.
