Using a patent as collateral for a bank loan is a method where a patent holder pledges the patent as security for a loan, essentially offering the patent as a guarantee for repayment.

A total of 539 reassignments were done from January 2025 to April 2025, where the patents were reassigned to different banks.

The Royal Bank of Canada turns out to be the largest in terms of reassignments received in 2025. 

A total of 247 patents were reassigned to Royal Bank of Canada, with the biggest contributors being Decolin (79), Zuora (66), and Copeland LP (50).

Among recipients, the Royal Bank of Canada is followed by The Bank of Nova Scotia (64), Bank Mandiri (60), Bank of Montreal (55), and Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (45), etc.
